The Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin was established by his Excellency, the then Military Governor of Kwara State, Col. David Bamigboye. The decision to establish the Polytechnic was announced during the launching of the four Year Development plan in 1971.

Kwara State College of Education (Technical) Lafiagi is unique because it is the only Technical College of Education in the Kwara North Senatorial district and one of the very few types yet to be converted to Federal College of Education (Technical) in Nigeria. She is a Centre for academic excellence with one of the best modern ICT centers, Libraries among other facilities. The International Vocational, Technical and Entrepreneurship College (IVTEC) is a charitable educational institution with a vision to promote human capital development within the context of evolving national (Nigerian) needs. A pioneering technical and vocational education and training (TVET) model initiated by the Kwara State Government, IVTEC provides an array of skill acquisition and skill upgrading training and certification programmes for recent school leavers, the unemployed and the under-employed, using the most advanced technology and delivery methods, exceptional faculty and state-of-the-art facilities.
IVTEC campus facilities and operational structures were designed in collaboration with the world-renowned vocational training institution, the City & Guilds International, as a novel experiment to redefine vocational and technical education through a holistic approach to bridging the skills gap. This approach is grounded in the notion that learning is purpose driven and a lifelong pursuit that can be as economically rewarding as one’s imagination and determination will allow.

Kwara State College of Education, Oro is a reckonable institution established in 1976 which is set to stand as the reference point for other educational institutions in Kwara State, Nigeria, and abound sooner. The College awards NCE degrees and has six Schools, namely: School of Education; School of Early Childhood Care Education and Primary Education; School of Secondary Education (Arts and Social Science); School of Secondary Education (Languages); School of Secondary Education (Sciences); and School of Secondary Education (Vocational Education). The College is housing more than twenty-six Departments and programs. It is affiliated with Ekiti State University for the Degree Courses in Education. It has Information Technology (IT) facilities and several infrastructures to cater to its students.

The College of Nursing and Midwifery, Ilorin as an integral part of the state Ministry of Tertiary Education and Ministry of Health. The College provides leadership for the education of nurses at the Basic and Post-basic Nursing and Nursing programmes who practice within an integrated, dynamic, and diverse health care system. College academic members are committed to scholarship in teaching, research, service, and practice.
